On Saturday, March 1st, 2025, AITE students competed in the Fairfield County National History Day(NHD) regional contest for spots at States. The day started bright and early at Sacred Heart University, where the students collected their admission papers and were sent to the auditorium for a warm welcome. After a well-spoken introduction, the students were all sent to explore the campus and prepare for their presentations. Students’ projects shined light on numerous aspects of American history through documentaries, essays, websites, and more. It was an adventure for the masses. Throughout the day, students were interviewed on their projects to educate their peers on different rights and responsibilities followed throughout history. Getting to explore Sacred Heart University was a highlight for many of the students. The day was enjoyable overall with students immersed in this learning experience. Memories were made and laughs were shared. When the day came to an end, everyone was brought back to the auditorium and the winners were announced. Some included our very own students (see below) in the senior category. The senior category accounts for high schoolers while the junior category is for middle schoolers. Overall, the day was educational, exciting, and a success. Needless to say, next year’s students are in for a treat!
