On Sunday, January 11, 2026, there was a protest against the presence of ICE in Stamford, as well as the recent killing of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE officer. ICE stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and their officers have been deporting thousands of individuals. At the protest, several Connecticut residents voiced their concerns about innocents being harmed through ICE’s use of force, and the high volume of individuals getting deported without a fair trial. Influential Connecticut figures such as Senator Richard Blumenthal and Governor Ned Lamont spoke at the event.
AITE student Minh Ho interviewed Matt Blumenthal, a trial lawyer and member of the state legislature. He spoke about the actions he and his colleagues were taking to regulate ICE and keep immigrants safe.
